  • Students will partner up to work on summative project:  students are to select the unit that most intrigued them, present a summary of the unit which includes:  1) Articulating what is your favorite unit or topic and why is important or included in the Cosmetology curriculum 2) What factors of this unit stood out to you 3) List 10 facts about the unit or topic 4) Provide a visual/demonstration 5) Include the major standard and sub-standard correlated to unit/topic 5) Provide a conclusion/summarize your project.  ***STUDENTS MAY PRESENT THEIR PROJECT ANYTIME THIS WEEK.  FRIDAY IS THE DEADLINE***
  • Students will be allowed to make up any missing assignments

  • We will review the 5 Anatomy diagrams and the cosmetology performance assessment that correlates with each.  The class will break up into 5 groups, then quiz over one (summative assessment) of the cosmetology performance assessment that incorporate Anatomy.  Each groups will be quizzed over a different diagram/performance assessment.  Each group will rotate the next day and continue to rotate until each group has been assessed on each Anatomy performance assessment.
  • We will go through run-throughs for Cosmetology Fantasy 2.0 show.  The show will take place on Thursday.

Cosmetology (Salon Services) II

SYLLABUS
Cosmetology Courses offered 2013-2014:  Salon Services I, Salon Services II, and Salon Services  III. 
Cosmetology courses provide students with an opportunity to become familiar with the cosmetology profession, GA State Board of Cosmetology, laws, rules and regulations, and introduces the fundamental theory and practices of the profession.
Specialized training will be offered in:  theory; safety; sanitation; state laws, rules and regulations; chemistry; anatomy and physiology; skin and nail care; hair coloring; reception; lab and salon management.
Career Interests:  cosmetologists, salon owners or managers, estheticians, nail technicians, platform artists or industry sales representatives

Salon Services II and Salon services III students are required to have their own manikins, haircutting shears, combs, butterfly hair clamps—manikin’s hair need to be long enough for several cuts and styles. 
Written assignment supplies for all cosmetology students:  small 3-ring notebook with pockets, posters, color pencils, markers, writing utensils, notebook paper, index cards.
SAFETY POLICY
Adhere to classroom rules to prevent injuries.  Proper attire (apron or cape), closed-toe shoes, and gloves should be worn when working on manikins and humans in salon/lab to prevent injuries, skin diseases, ruining clothes, etc.  Practice cleanliness at all times—leave your workstation clean.  Adhere to course standards.
TUTORING
Extra help outside of class time will be offered Tuesday and Thursday mornings by appointment.
