August 10-14

1st Block:  Intro to Personal Care 

MONDAY

  • Students will work on their first PBL as a whole class project, creating a Standards Wall.  The wall must have:  1)course standards posted, 2)demonstrations of the key points of each standard, and 3) be creative with your display. Due by Monday, August 10th
  • We will begin our 1st Unit:  Cosmetology Orientation, Life Skills, Communicating for Success, and Professionalism 
HUM-IPCS-1
Demonstrate employability skills required by business and industry.

TUESDAY
HUM-IPCS-2
Explore career opportunities and economic trends in the personal care industry, including developing a personal career plan and understanding the importance of entrepreneurship skills.

WEDNESDAY
HUM-IPCS-3       
Identify and evaluate state laws, rules and regulations.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY
HUM-IPCS-4
Display a professional appearance and role play appropriate interaction with clients in the personal care services.


3rd Block:  Cosmetology III
STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN MANIKIN FOR THIS COURSE.  PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS WILL BEGIN WITHIN THE FIRST  2 WEEKS OF SCHOOL STARTING!!!

MONDAY
  • The students will begin their first unit:  Employability, Safety and Haircutting


HUM-CSIII-1
Demonstrate employability skills required by business and industry.
HUM-CSIII-2
Demonstrate proper methods of infection control, storage of products, draping clients, stylist protection, proper use of haircutting implements and safety used during haircutting services.

TUESDAY-FRIDAY 
HUM-CSIII-3
Explain the importance of reference points on the head, design elements, and principle needed for haircutting services, including analysis of client’s facial shape, features, and profile.


4th Block:  Cosmetology II
STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN MANIKIN FOR THIS COURSE.  PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS WILL BEGIN WITHIN THE FIRST  2 WEEKS OF SCHOOL STARTING!!!

MONDAY
  • The students will begin their first unit:  Employability, Safety and Histology of the Scalp and Hair, and Skin

HUM-CSII-1
Demonstrate employability skills required by business and industry.

TUESDAY-FRIDAY
HUM-CSII-2
Investigate basic histology of the hair and skin, related diseases and disorders, corrective treatments and provided services based on hair and scalp analysis and applying safety precautions for scalp and hair treatments.
